Law enforcement agencies in the Tashkent region have reportedly dismantled an underground operation dedicated to manufacturing and distributing counterfeit national currency in the city of Angren. The joint raid was carried out by officers from the State Security Service and the regional Main Department of Internal Affairs.

Authorities claim that a local resident born in 1993, along with an accomplice born in 1997, rented an apartment in a multi-story residential building specifically to run the illicit counterfeiting enterprise. The location served as a covert workshop for producing fake banknotes.

During the subsequent search of the premises, officials purportedly discovered semi-finished counterfeit bills in 100,000 and 200,000 som denominations, totaling 79.8 million soms. Investigators also seized an Epson color printer, specialized printing inks, and various stationery items used to execute the alleged scheme as physical evidence.

Official reports indicate that both detained suspects have previous criminal records. A criminal case has been officially initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and ongoing investigative actions are underway to determine the full scope of the operation.
