The Ministry of Sports of Uzbekistan has submitted a draft resolution for public discussion outlining the operational procedures for the '10,000 Steps' walking campaign. The program's stated objectives include raising public ecological culture, promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering a walking culture, and encouraging the efficient utilization of urban green zones and public spaces. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to leverage digital technologies to support citizens' health and physical engagement.

Under the proposed guidelines, citizens of Uzbekistan aged 18 and older will be eligible to participate. Participants who accumulate the highest number of steps nationwide over the course of a year, while consistently meeting a daily minimum of 10,000 steps, are set to be rewarded with valuable prizes. The platform operates through a dedicated mobile application and web portal, with citizens' daily step counts subject to monitoring by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.

To ensure fairness and transparency, the operational body will reserve the right to audit and verify participant results under specific circumstances. These include the detection of anomalously high metrics, indications of artificial intelligence or automated software utilization, grievances filed by fellow participants, and technical malfunctions within the system. Public consultations on the project are scheduled to run until November 13.

It is worth noting that a similar tracking platform was initially launched in June 2021, though the reward-based incentive program was subsequently discontinued in April 2022. The revival of the '10,000 Steps' initiative was first highlighted on March 23 during a presentation of priority nationwide environmental projects for 2026–2030, with the restart originally slated for May 1, 2026.
