Over recent days, various social media platforms have been flooded with unverified claims suggesting that the authorities in Uzbekistan were allegedly planning to introduce criminal liability for the sale, delivery, and ordering of so-called 'virginity capsules', as well as for surgical hymen restoration procedures. The online publications claimed that this controversial matter had supposedly been discussed within the Oliy Majlis due to an alleged rise in domestic divorces attributed to such cases.
Furthermore, these questionable reports circulated fabricated statistics suggesting that over the past five years, more than 187,000 unmarried women were allegedly identified as not being virgins. The viral posts also claimed that informants who reported such matters to law enforcement agencies would purportedly receive monetary rewards funded by the state treasury.
In response to the circulating rumors, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis firmly refuted the claims, stating that no such legislative bill exists within the parliament. Representatives clarified that the initiative has neither been submitted for review nor is it currently under discussion by lawmakers.
Authorities have strongly urged the public to refrain from spreading false and unverified information across digital channels, emphasizing the importance of verifying facts exclusively through official government sources.
