Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, paid a working visit to the Kashkadarya region on November 4 to review regional socio-economic development projects and inspect conditions at various social institutions. During the visit, the regional governor, Murotjon Azimov, presented a portfolio of initiatives aimed at improving water supply, boosting tourism, and modernizing local healthcare and educational facilities.
Specifically, authorities plan to upgrade tourist infrastructure around the ancient Nasaf fortress in the historical district of Karshi. In the healthcare sector, plans include the reconstruction of ten existing facilities and the construction of one new medical center by 2027. Furthermore, concrete lining and landscaping works along the Left-Bank Canal are set to begin soon, which will reportedly secure water access for thousands of hectares of land and local communities.
During her inspections in Karshi, Mirziyoyeva visited secondary school No. 43 and kindergarten No. 1, where she confronted severe infrastructure deficits. Expressing concern over the dilapidated condition of the kindergarten and the cold, poorly-equipped classrooms in the school, she emphasized that such critical issues demand urgent intervention. Consequently, authorities decided to demolish the old kindergarten and build a modern 360-place facility, while the school will undergo a comprehensive overhaul to include advanced laboratories and an inclusive learning environment.
In addition, the Head of the Presidential Administration visited the regional narcology dispensary to assess conditions firsthand in a traditionally neglected sector. She noted that a comprehensive system encompassing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation is urgently needed, adding that a dedicated reform program is currently being drafted in cooperation with local and international experts.
