According to the press service of the Tashkent City Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection, an inspection revealed the illegal felling of 16 trees on the territory of the former military unit No. 7534 in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent. The investigation found that OBODON FAYZ SERVIS XIZMATI LLC, a company carrying out landscaping work at the site, had cut down the trees without authorization.
The company's actions violate the requirements of Article 32 of the Law "On the Protection and Use of the Plant World," as well as Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 464 dated August 22, 2022. According to Appendix No. 4 to this resolution, damages for the illegal felling, damage, or destruction of trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund are to be recovered at double the rate. The department reported that the damage to the plant world has already been calculated, but specific sanctions were not detailed in the statement.
All materials related to the case have been forwarded to the Yashnabad District Court for Criminal Cases for legal assessment in accordance with Part 3 of Article 245 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. This incident highlights ongoing challenges in enforcing environmental regulations in urban areas, particularly on sites undergoing redevelopment, and underscores the need for stricter oversight to prevent such violations.
