On Tuesday morning, the conflict in the Middle East escalated further, with attacks and counterstrikes reported across multiple countries in the region. CNN, citing official sources and local media, reported that the Israeli army announced the start of a "wide-scale wave of strikes" on Tehran, targeting infrastructure of the Iranian government. The Iranian Red Crescent stated that rescue operations are underway in the capital following destruction caused by the strikes, and the state agency Mehr also reported explosions in the city.
Simultaneously, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed a new series of attacks on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, following the expansion of Israel's ground operation in southern Lebanon. Towards Israel, emergency services reported that rockets were fired, with most intercepted by air defense systems, and no information on casualties or damage was received.
In Iraq, drones attacked the U.S. embassy and the Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad, with published videos showing air defense systems intercepting targets near the diplomatic mission, and the Majnoon oil field in the south of the country was also targeted. Amid the deteriorating situation, the United Arab Emirates temporarily closed its airspace, authorities announced the suspension of operations at the Shah gas field after a drone attack caused a fire, and another fire occurred in the Fujairah industrial zone.
In Kuwait, air defense systems were activated due to threats of missile and drone attacks, with the military urging citizens to remain calm, explaining that explosion sounds were related to target interceptions. Saudi Arabia, in turn, claimed to have destroyed about ten drones in the eastern regions of the country, highlighting the expansion of regional instability and risks.
