China Eastern Airlines, one of China's leading carriers, has commenced direct regular passenger flights between Tashkent and Shanghai. According to Uzbekistan Airports, the first flight MU6037 landed at Tashkent International Airport on March 30 at 18:00 local time, carrying 265 passengers. The aircraft was greeted with a traditional water arch salute, while the crew received flowers and a ceremonial welcome.

On the same day, check-in opened at the airport for the inaugural flight from Tashkent to Shanghai. The new route directly connects the capital of Uzbekistan with Shanghai, one of China's largest cities, thereby expanding opportunities for travel, tourism, and business contacts. Flights will operate four times a week—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—using Airbus A330 aircraft, with a flight duration of approximately eight hours.

China Eastern Airlines, founded in 1988 and based in Shanghai, is a major player in the Chinese aviation market. The carrier entered the Uzbek market in July 2025 by launching flights on the Xi'an-Tashkent-Xi'an route. This new service strengthens air connectivity between the two countries and fosters economic cooperation, while also providing enhanced convenience for passengers.
