On the Central Mirzachul Canal, which runs through the territory of the Sardoba reservoir in the Syrdarya region, Ecopolice officers identified a case of illegal fishing using an electric shock device. This action caused damage to wildlife exceeding 733 million Uzbek soums.
According to the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, the violators were apprehended during a night raid. It was established that the citizens caught 54 fish of five species using prohibited fishing gear. Such actions grossly violate the requirements of the Laws "On Nature Protection" and "On Wildlife Protection."
Materials are being prepared for transfer to the prosecutor's office regarding this incident. This case highlights the ongoing issue of illegal fishing in the region.
Similar cases have been recorded previously. In the Saykhunabad district of the Syrdarya region, two residents illegally caught nearly 50 fish using an electric fishing rod, resulting in damage to nature exceeding 519 million soums. This underscores the need for intensified efforts against environmental violations.
