️ Cabin crew at Germany's national carrier Lufthansa have begun a two-day strike, disrupting flights from major hubs including Frankfurt and Munich airports. The strike is organized by the Independent Flight Attendants' Organization (UFO), which cites a lack of progress in negotiations over a new collective agreement as the reason for the action.

️ Additionally, the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit has announced further strikes on Thursday and Friday, affecting most Lufthansa departures from German airports, as well as flights by subsidiaries such as Lufthansa Cargo and CityLine. Union chief Andreas Pinheiro stated there had been no movement from the employer in talks.

️ Meanwhile, a new national poll by YouGov has found the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) becoming the strongest political force at 27%, reflecting growing dissatisfaction with Germany's centrist coalition government. The conservative CDU/CSU bloc fell to 23%, its lowest level in this poll since late 2021.

️ The poll also showed that 79% of respondents are dissatisfied with the current coalition, a sharp increase from 55% in mid-2025. Other recent surveys (by Insa and Infratest dimap) indicate a tighter race between AfD and CDU/CSU, underscoring volatility in voter sentiment.

️ In a separate incident in western Germany, two people died when a small plane crashed near the city of Düren. Mayor of the Hürtgenwald municipality Stephan Cranen said the aircraft had taken off from Aachen-Merzbrück Airfield before going down in a forested area. The cause of the crash remains unclear, with investigations ongoing.
