Participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) are continuing their journey to Gaza despite a violent interception by the Israeli navy in international waters. At least 30 people were injured, four reported sexual assault, and two were forcibly taken to Israel, where they faced terrorism charges and were tortured.

The flotilla members have decided to sail on in defiance of Israel's genocide and in solidarity with the Palestinian people. They are en route to the Turkish port of Marmaris to regroup before attempting to reach Gaza.

The author argues that Gaza flotillas have often been dismissed as performative, but they have yielded concrete results. For instance, the October mission contributed to pressure on Israel to accept a ceasefire. However, the ceasefire has been criticized as Israel continues to kill Palestinians.

The flotilla has sparked international debate: why did the Greek coastguard not respond to distress signals or prevent the Israeli ship from leaving port? These questions highlight violations of international law.

The GSF mission has become a litmus test of Western complicity in the genocide and Israeli extraterritorial claims. The author calls on everyone to choose a side.
