The US House of Representatives is preparing for a crucial vote on a bill that would ban TikTok nationwide. The measure, according to American lawmakers, targets the platform owned by a Chinese company that allegedly poses a threat to national security.

The bill's sponsors propose banning TikTok in the US unless it divests from China's ByteDance. They claim the platform could share user data with the Chinese government. However, these allegations are unsubstantiated.

TikTok, for its part, insists that US user data is not transferred to China and that the company already cooperates with American regulators. Platform representatives warn that a ban would harm over 170 million American users and millions of small businesses.

The legislative process is not yet complete, but the House is expected to approve the bill. It will then be considered by the Senate. If passed, TikTok could be forced to cease operations in the US.
