Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least four people and wounded eight others, according to Lebanese state media. The attacks come despite a formal ceasefire agreement.
The National News Agency (NNA) reported that two medics were injured when an air strike hit a civil defense team affiliated with the Islamic Health Society in Toul, Nabatieh, as they were responding to an earlier attack.
In the town of Ebba, Nabatieh, an air raid killed two men and injured five others. A drone strike on a car in Haris, Bint Jbeil district, killed one man and wounded his brother.
Israeli warplanes also targeted the home of a former municipal chief in Sajd, with additional strikes reported in Kfar Rumman and Safad al-Battikh. No casualty information was immediately available.
Prior to the attacks, the Israeli army issued forced displacement threats for nine towns in southern and eastern Lebanon: Rihan, Jarjou, Kfar Rumman, Nmairiyeh, Arabsalim, Harouf, Jmayjmeh, Mashghara, and Qlayaa. Army spokesman Avichay Adraee urged residents to evacuate, citing Hezbollah infrastructure.
The Israeli military said a soldier was killed by a Hezbollah drone near the border, and three others were injured by a booby-trapped drone explosion.
The ceasefire, which began on April 17 and was extended to mid-May, has failed to halt hostilities. Since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed at least 2,840 people in Lebanon, injured nearly 8,700, and displaced over a million, according to Lebanese figures.
The United States is preparing to host peace talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington on Thursday and Friday. Hezbollah has criticized the Lebanese government for participating.
