Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has released videos from Viktor Orban's official Buda Castle residence and two ministries, revealing gigantic, luxuriously furnished rooms. Orban, who often boasts of his humble village roots, had decorated his residence with nearly 100 valuable paintings from the Hungarian National Gallery.

One of the videos garnered 8 million views in a single day — a significant figure for a country of under 10 million people. For many Hungarians, the footage has sparked both anger and a sense of satisfaction at seeing the former elite exposed.

In his inaugural speech, Magyar called for sweeping systemic change, prioritizing the reconciliation of a divided society. He stressed that achieving justice requires exposing and reckoning with the Orban system both morally and legally.

The new government plans to establish an independent anti-corruption authority and an office for recovering illegally acquired assets. In the fall, authorities are set to publish a list of former state security agents — a project delayed for 30 years.

Magyar's cabinet consists almost entirely of renowned experts with little political background. Former diplomat and energy expert Anita Orban has been appointed foreign minister.

The first cabinet meeting was held in the village of Opusztaszer, where Hungarian nomadic tribes pitched their tents in 896, now a region suffering from severe drought.
