The Kazakh part of the Aral Sea continues to gradually fill with water. According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, about 1.2 billion cubic meters of water have been directed into the sea since October last year, increasing the total water volume in the area to 23.4 billion cubic meters.

During the peak irrigation season, the inflow is currently 14 cubic meters per second, but by the end of the period, specialists plan to gradually increase this figure to 100–150 cubic meters per second. This will help maintain a stable water level and support the restoration of the local ecosystem.

To retain water and gradually restore the local ecosystem, Astana is actively automating water resource accounting in the Syr Darya basin and reconstructing key hydraulic structures. These measures are aimed at preventing further shallowing and improving the environmental conditions.

A crucial factor in saving the water body remains coordination with neighboring states. Last year, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on joint management and rational use of shared rivers. The positive results of this work on the restoration of the Northern Aral Sea were previously noted by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan intends to turn the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) into one of the key drivers of regional integration. Among the country's priorities during its chairmanship next year are the development and modernization of the Fund's activities, synchronization of its agenda with the decisions of the Consultative Meetings of Heads of State of Central Asia, and increasing the effectiveness of programs and projects.
