Pakistan has delivered a revised peace proposal from Iran to the United States, sources in Islamabad told reporters on Monday, as the country hosts stalled ceasefire negotiations. According to Reuters, both sides were warned that they "don't have much time" to narrow their differences before the situation escalates again.

Without providing details, a source said Washington and Tehran "keep changing their goal posts." Although a fragile six-week ceasefire remains in place, talks led by Pakistan have stalled. US President Donald Trump has said the current truce is "on life support."

A major sticking point is Washington's demand for Tehran to halt its nuclear program and lift its de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for one-fifth of the world's oil and LNG. Iran wants compensation for war damage and an end to all hostilities, including Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

Over the weekend, Trump wrote on Truth Social that "the Clock is Ticking" for Iran, adding "they better get moving, FAST, or there won't be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!" US media reported Trump is due to meet with military advisors on Tuesday to discuss options on resuming strikes.

It was also reported that Trump had hoped a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping last week would result in assurances that Beijing would pressure Iran, but no such promises materialized.
