Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent have launched an investigation following a statement by actor and blogger Musulmon Yunusov, who claimed that a polyclinic doctor demanded a $300 bribe to process disability status for his underage daughter. The situation gained public attention after the artist's appeal, as he had been unable to obtain the proper disability status for his child for a long time.
In parallel with the law enforcement investigation, the National Agency for Social Protection established a working group and conducted a re-examination of the girl on September 3. Experts re-studied medical documents, assessed the child's actual condition, and officially recognized her as disabled until age 18, in need of constant external care.
According to the National Agency for Social Protection, the father's application was accepted on May 18 at Family Polyclinic No. 71. On May 21, documents were sent electronically to the territorial medical-social expert commission (TIEK). On June 5, Sergeli Interdistrict TIEK No. 127 conducted an examination and recognized the girl as a child with disability until age 18, in need of external care.
Later, the conclusion was subjected to electronic selective re-verification. The official statement does not specify why it was selected for such verification or how the process proceeded. An expert from the territorial medical-social expert commission of Samarkand region re-studied the documents and removed the need for external care from the conclusion. As a result, the girl retained her status as a child with disability until age 18, but the need for external care was removed.
The agency noted that Sergeli Interdistrict TIEK No. 127 did not fully study the results of the re-verification.
Following the inspection, disciplinary measures, including dismissal, were taken against responsible managers and employees of Sergeli Interdistrict TIEK and the "Inson" center. However, the agency did not specify who was dismissed or how many employees were held accountable.
