A Palestinian doctor, Jamal Abu Aboun, was killed and three others wounded in an Israeli drone strike near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, on Saturday.

Israeli artillery also shelled areas east and south of Khan Younis and targeted al-Bureij refugee camp. Since the October “ceasefire”, at least 922 Palestinians have been killed and 2,786 injured, according to the Gaza Media Office.

Israeli reservists told AP of a culture of dehumanization and permissive rules of engagement, with troops routinely opening fire on Palestinians near the “Yellow Line”. One soldier said: “It was a jungle. The order was: If someone crosses the line, you shoot them.”

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked homes in Beita, throwing stones and smashing vehicles. In Masafer Yatta, settlers damaged farmland. At least 540 settler attacks were recorded in April alone.

Since October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed 1,168 Palestinians, injured 12,666, displaced about 33,000, and detained nearly 23,000 in the West Bank, according to Palestinian figures.
