US President Donald Trump is set to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York, prompting a security lockdown around the venue. Road closures, a strict no-bag policy, and Secret Service-level screening will greet fans arriving at the "World's Most Famous Arena."

The New York Knicks hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs, with French phenom Victor Wembanyama underperforming. The Knicks, who haven't won a title since 1973, are making their first Finals appearance since 1999, electrifying the city.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi urged fans to arrive at least two hours early. "Attendees should anticipate hard street closures, a strict no-bag policy, and screening similar to airport procedures," he said. Subway and Long Island Rail Road services will run as usual.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced there will be no watch party outside MSG for Game 3. "The permit was denied due to the presidential visit," the statement read. However, a watch party may be held for Game 4 on Wednesday.

Trump has been a regular at major sporting events during his second term, including the Super Bowl, Ryder Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup final. In September, thousands missed the start of the US Open men's final due to security delays linked to his attendance.

On Friday, 6,500 fans gathered outside MSG for a watch party as the Knicks won a thrilling 105-104 game. NYPD arrested 17 individuals, including one who struck a police officer. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged fans to "celebrate responsibly."
