Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Donald Trump and his allies are pushing a resolution that would symbolically overturn the two impeachments from his first presidential term.
According to Reuters, the White House is discussing with Republicans in Congress a document that would recognize both impeachments as invalid.
The bill proposes that the articles of impeachment be considered annulled, 'as if they were never adopted.' As an argument, Trump's supporters cite recently declassified materials that they claim prove bias of witnesses in the first case. They call the second impeachment illegal due to excessive haste.
However, lawyers note that such a resolution would have only symbolic significance, as the U.S. Constitution has no mechanism to overturn an already completed impeachment.
Earlier, it was reported that Trump canceled planned strikes on Iran amid preparations for a temporary agreement between Washington and Tehran. The project is supposed to serve as a basis for further negotiations on the nuclear program and lifting sanctions.
