Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that a “final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached” between the US and Iran, posting on X that Pakistan is working closely with both sides to finalize next steps.

“Peace has never been this close as it is now,” Sharif wrote, echoing a similar statement from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who said a deal had “never been closer” but urged media to refrain from speculation.

US President Donald Trump reposted Araghchi’s statement on Truth Social, but earlier criticized reports detailing supposed terms of the agreement, which have not been publicly released.

An IRNA report outlined seven alleged main points, claiming no new concessions on Iran’s nuclear program or control of the Strait of Hormuz, and immediate unfreezing of some Iranian assets.

A US official pushed back, saying the deal would see dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, destruction of nuclear material, and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Vice President JD Vance denied any immediate release of Iranian assets.

“The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies’ concerns are prioritized,” Vance wrote, adding that economic benefits would flow if Iran meets its obligations, potentially “remaking the region.”
