A fire at a hospital in the northern German town of Ludwigslust has killed two people and injured more than 30 others, police said on Thursday.
The blaze broke out in the roof structure of the facility in the early hours. Both fatalities were patients at the hospital, according to German news agency dpa.
The cause of the fire remains unclear. Many patients and staff were evacuated from the hospital, which has 160 beds and is the only one in the town.
Police were initially unable to provide details on the severity of the victims' injuries. Ludwigslust is located in the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 40 km (25 miles) south of the state capital, Schwerin.
