Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. DR Congo national team head coach Sebastien Desabre was informed of his father's death during a press conference following a 2-1 loss to England at the 2026 World Cup.

The incident occurred after the Round of 16 match, where DR Congo was eliminated by England. At the end of the press conference, a team representative announced to journalists that Desabre's father had passed away and offered condolences.

The coach then thanked those present and left the room. Earlier, he had discussed his team's performance, noting that despite the elimination, DR Congo had "left a good image" of their football.

Earlier reports indicated that Harry Kane turned the match around, leading England to the Round of 16.
