Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that the 2026 World Cup will be his last as a player. The 41-year-old made the statement during a press conference ahead of the Round of 16 match between Portugal and Spain.

Ronaldo emphasized that he does not intend to end his club career yet. “Right now I want to enjoy every match on the field, not constantly think about retiring,” he said.

Ronaldo is playing in his sixth World Cup. At the 2026 tournament, he has scored three goals: a brace against Uzbekistan and a penalty in the Round of 16 match against Croatia. He thus became the first player to score at six different World Cups.

Ronaldo now has 11 goals in World Cups overall. This tournament remains one of his last chances to win a trophy he has not yet claimed. Portugal's best result with him at a World Cup was the semifinals in 2006 in Germany.
