A public association called 'Uzbek Mahalla' has been registered in Seattle, Washington State, USA, initiated by compatriots living there, Podrobno.uz reports.

The legal recognition of the initiative was carried out by Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs. Currently, over 3,000 people from Uzbekistan reside in Washington State. Most of them work in Seattle and its suburbs at major technology and multinational companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Boeing, Oracle, and NVIDIA.

Musa Kholmuratov has been appointed chairman of 'Uzbek Mahalla'. He has 15 years of experience in the US public administration system and holds a leadership position in the state's Department of Corrections.

The main tasks of the association will be to consolidate compatriots, hold national holidays and cultural events, assist in the social adaptation of Uzbek citizens who have recently arrived in the US, and preserve the native language, traditions, and cultural values among the youth.

Earlier, Uzbeks in the US were urged to comply with local laws and protect the country's reputation. The consulate stated its readiness to provide necessary legal assistance to Uzbek citizens.
