A fire broke out late on July 12 at the 'Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao' pub in Bangkok, Thailand, killing 27 people and injuring 63 others, Reuters reported.
Blocked emergency exits prevented patrons from escaping the burning building, with many suffocating from smoke. Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit in an air conditioner caused the blaze.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene early Monday and stated, 'We have found 27 bodies, the rest are being sent to hospitals.'
Suriyachai Rawivan, director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, confirmed that 22 of the injured are in serious condition and have been hospitalized.
The pub is located in a busy area of northern Bangkok, connected to the city's rail system, adjacent to two shopping malls, and close to cinemas, large parks, and the Chatuchak market, popular among foreign tourists.
