Russia's Defense Ministry reported that a Ukrainian strike on a bus in the border region of Belgorod killed five civilians, including a minor, and left three others critically injured on Monday.

The attack followed a massive Ukrainian retaliatory drone strike on Moscow, with city officials reporting more than 400 drones targeting the Russian capital. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said most drones were intercepted, but Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed at least 10 people were wounded and several residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces were targeting Russian logistics facilities and an oil depot, calling it a justified response to every Russian strike. He posted on X: "We are responding, justly, to every Russian strike against our cities and communities."

Meanwhile, tensions within Ukraine's military leadership persist. Following the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, days of protests have erupted. Zelenskyy met with top military commanders to discuss the situation and appointed Yevhenii Khmara as acting defense minister.

In eastern Ukraine, Russian attacks on Pavlograd and Kramatorsk killed two people in each city, while one person died in Zaporizhzhia. Both sides deny targeting civilians.
