The Israeli war on Gaza has led to a dramatic increase in miscarriages, with doctors linking the rise to bombardments, hunger, displacement, and the collapse of the healthcare system.

Nuha Abu Lebda, who lost three pregnancies, told Al Jazeera that the miscarriages were caused by air strikes, displacement, lack of clean water, and malnutrition. She sold her gold to buy medication but still lost her babies.

Dr. Yasser Saadeddine, maternity director at al-Awda Hospital, said around 70% of pregnancy losses his team treats are war-related. He cited malnutrition, poor hygiene, environmental contamination, and continuous displacement as key factors.

Other women shared similar stories: Mai Zaqout lost her daughter during childbirth due to lack of medical care; Sara al-Awad had an emergency C-section after explosions caused placental abruption; Iman Badah lost her only son after six years of trying to conceive.

Doctors report an increase in stillbirths, premature deliveries, and dangerous pregnancy complications. Many women lost access to regular check-ups and medical records during repeated displacements, while hospitals face shortages of medicines and staff.
