Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. By 2030, the average life expectancy for women in South Korea could surpass 90 years, according to a study by researchers at the University of Auckland published in The Lancet.

The study estimates a 57% probability that the figure will exceed 90 years, and a 90% probability it will surpass 86.7 years. Mathematical modeling covering 35 developed countries projects that South Korean women's life expectancy will reach 90.8 years by 2030, placing the country first globally, ahead of France, Spain, and Japan.

Experts attribute this growth to universal health insurance in place since the late 1980s, effective control of cardiovascular diseases, low smoking rates among women, and low obesity levels.

In 2023, women's life expectancy in South Korea reached 86–87 years. Meanwhile, the country maintains the world's lowest birth rate, which adds pressure on the pension system and social care sector.
