In January-August 2026, Uzbekistan was visited by 9,102,729 foreign citizens for tourism purposes, according to the National Statistics Committee.

This figure is 1.6 million people, or 21.1%, higher compared to the same period last year. The growth rate is among the highest in the post-pandemic period, indicating a steady increase in interest in the country.

The largest number of tourists came from Kyrgyzstan — 2,524,378. Next are Kazakhstan — 2,171,581 and Tajikistan — 2,025,400. Tourists from these three countries account for nearly 74% of the total flow.

Also during the reporting period, 867,757 tourists arrived from Russia, 329,620 from Afghanistan, 318,465 from China, and 224,766 from Turkmenistan. The top ten also included Turkey (130,155), India (39,538), and Germany (32,249).

Recall that in the first 4 months of 2026, Uzbekistan was visited by 4 million tourists (source — Tourism Committee). This is 30% more than in the same period last year. They were provided with services worth $1.6 billion.

In the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan was visited by more than 6.5 million foreign tourists. According to the Statistics Committee, this figure is almost 25% higher than in the same period of 2025. Nearly 5 million tourists came from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.

In August, at an open dialogue between the president and entrepreneurs, it was announced that the services of tour operators to foreign tourists in Uzbekistan would be equated to exports and exempted from VAT. The customs privilege for importing tourist transport will be extended for another year, and no utilization fee will be charged for them. $50 million will be allocated for hotel construction.
