German police are investigating an explosion of an unidentified object at the main train station in Augsburg, southern Germany, which occurred early Wednesday morning. Two people sustained minor injuries, reportedly due to acoustic trauma.

The blast took place in a passageway of the station building, damaging window panes. Authorities have fully closed the station and suspended rail traffic as investigations continue.

According to the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper, the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is on the scene with an explosive-disposal robot. Police first responded to the incident at around 5:00 a.m. local time.

Augsburg is a major regional transport hub located approximately 55 kilometers (35 miles) west of Munich. No information has been released yet regarding the circumstances of the explosion.

Meanwhile, police in western Germany are investigating a disruption at a power station in Bergheim, near Cologne. On Tuesday evening, several power lines failed following a short circuit at the facility.

A police spokesperson stated that based on the current investigation, they do not believe the incident was caused by a technical malfunction, but rather by a deliberate act, constituting a criminal offense. No details have been provided regarding the extent of damage or potential perpetrators.

This incident follows reports of unknown individuals attempting to cause short circuits on extra-high-voltage power lines near the Jänschwalde coal-fired power plant in the eastern state of Brandenburg on Tuesday morning. Police found explosive devices near the plant and are treating the case as an act of sabotage.
