In the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, 27-year-old Haidar Yahya Tamimi had spent four months preparing for his wedding, purchasing new furniture, selecting a suit, and sending out invitations to roughly 1,000 guests. However, the ceremony scheduled for Friday was indefinitely postponed after the Israeli regime launched a sweeping military operation across the city.
The harsh lockdown was purportedly ordered following an incident at a western checkpoint where two Palestinian gunmen allegedly killed two Israeli soldiers. In response, Israeli regime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu imposed an immediate lockdown, deploying bulldozers to raze buildings in the al-Jalada and Ein Deir Baha neighborhoods where the attackers resided.
According to municipal figures, more than 3,100 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced as a consequence of the operation. Haidar, who works as a radiology technician, was forced to flee his home in the dead of night alongside his family, carrying only the bare essentials while all his wedding preparations remained trapped inside the sealed zone.
The sweeping security measures have also severely impacted local commerce, with locals estimating that over 100 businesses have been disrupted. Travel agencies and traders have been left stranded, unable to access offices, passports, or essential travel documentation required for international business trips.
