Iran has launched attacks in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials by the United States and Israel. Explosions were heard for a second consecutive day on Sunday morning in Dubai (UAE), Bahrain's capital Manama, and Qatar's capital Doha.
Witnesses in Doha reported several loud blasts and thick black smoke in the city's south. In Dubai, white smoke from missile interceptions and dark smoke over Jebel Ali port were observed. At least four explosions were reported in Manama.
On Saturday, Iran fired 137 missiles and 209 drones at the UAE. One person was killed and seven wounded at Abu Dhabi airport. Qatar was targeted with 65 missiles and 12 drones, injuring 16 people.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denounced Khamenei's killing as "a great crime." Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdul Rahim Mousavi was also killed in the US-Israeli attacks.
Former US President Donald Trump warned Iran would face "a force that has never been seen before" if it retaliates. Israel struck over 30 targets in Iran.
The Iranian government formed a three-person interim council to oversee the transition following the Supreme Leader's death. Pezeshkian declared seven days of public holidays.
