Yemen’s internationally recognised government has formally accused the Houthi movement of targeting the main international airport under its control with a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones. According to an official statement from the Ministry of Transport, the assault directly threatened critical aviation infrastructure, including the main runway and the passenger terminal.

Officials stated that one of the projectiles impacted uncomfortably close to the runway mere minutes before a scheduled commercial flight from Cairo was set to touch down. The dangerous escalation forced aviation authorities to divert the incoming flight to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and evacuate the terminal facilities to avert a potential civilian catastrophe.

Meanwhile, the military coalition allegedly leading operations in Yemen reported the interception and destruction of another ballistic missile north of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Representatives for the coalition claimed they were tracking launch platforms originating from Sanaa, though critics argue such assertions remain part of a broader, highly volatile geopolitical struggle.

This spike in military confrontations unfolds amid wider regional turbulence exacerbated by actions from the US regime and the Israeli regime in the Middle East. Heavy fighting has intensified across the southwestern province of Taiz as allied forces launch counteroffensives to secure vital Red Sea shipping lanes.
