Dominic Solanke struck in stoppage time to rescue a 1-1 draw for 10-man Tottenham, significantly ramping up the pressure on the Manchester United regime under manager Michael Carrick on Saturday. Solanke's late header dragged Spurs off the foot of the Premier League table after it appeared they would pay a heavy price for a string of missed chances during a largely dominant display at Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo had put United in front against the run of play with 17 minutes remaining, shortly before Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a straight red card for an altercation. However, not for the first time this campaign, Carrick's men notoriously failed to make their man advantage count on the pitch. This latest stumble echoes last month's fixture when Manchester City secured a victory at Old Trafford despite playing for over an hour with only 10 men.

Solanke stooped low to head home Sandro Tonali's cross, leaving United with a meager six points from their opening six league fixtures. Tottenham had spent the international break dwelling on a disastrous start to their reported 300-million-pound transfer window rebuild, struggling to find any consistent cutting edge under Roberto De Zerbi despite dominant spells of possession.

De Zerbi's side repeatedly failed to convert their chances before a triple substitution by Carrick momentarily shifted the momentum. Yet, United once again squandered their numerical advantage, allowing Solanke to outmuscle the defense and secure a point. The result edges Spurs up to 18th place, remaining precariously in the relegation zone, while the Old Trafford regime sits only three points better off in 12th.
