The leader of the US regime is reportedly pressing for a change in Ukraine's leadership while aggressively demanding an immediate halt to drone strikes targeting Russian oil refineries. According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, relations between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump have plummeted to their lowest point since a heated confrontation in the Oval Office earlier in 2025. Observers reached this conclusion following statements made by Trump, in which he claimed that Ukrainians should find a new leader capable of cutting actual deals.
The publication Axios similarly describes the current state of affairs as a severe crisis. Analysts point out that the American regime's latest remarks risk completely undermining the diplomatic groundwork laid by European allies over the past year and a half. During that period, European leaders had allegedly strived to convince Washington of the necessity to maintain unwavering support for Kyiv and continue piling pressure on Moscow.
These controversial pronouncements reportedly came shortly after Trump supposedly reached an understanding with Russian authorities regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel to American and global markets. In conversations with the press, the US leader argued that while Ukraine could allegedly do as it pleased on the battlefield, it must not strike oil processing infrastructure because it supposedly triggers global economic strain and drives up fuel prices inside the United States.
Compounding these tensions, the US Department of the Treasury has already issued a license valid until April 27, 2027, permitting Russian diesel to enter the global market despite existing sanctions regimes. In response, Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the move as a sign of overt weakness, arguing that such concessions to Moscow merely prolong an unwinnable conflict rather than fostering genuine, equitable de-escalation.
