Hardline factions within Iran are reportedly intensifying pressure on the government, demanding the removal of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Lawmakers have moved to initiate impeachment proceedings against Araghchi, allegedly triggered by his meeting with US negotiators on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, which critics claim lacked official authorization.

The political turmoil comes as President Masoud Pezeshkian's administration grapples with severe economic difficulties. The recent resignation of Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has failed to alleviate the mounting pressure, particularly as oil exports plunge under the weight of foreign sanctions and blockades. Analysts note that opaque structures and influential entities, such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, control substantial parts of the illicit oil trade, severely limiting the government's oversight over key revenue streams.

Observers suggest that hardliners within the Iranian political apparatus frequently leverage such crises to shift responsibility onto moderate forces and elected institutions. With diplomatic efforts yielding few results and economic conditions deteriorating, experts warn that the internal power struggle and overall instability within the country are likely to deepen in the weeks ahead.
