A Washington Post photojournalist, Heidi Levine, sustained injuries after reportedly being beaten by a group of masked Israeli settlers while on assignment in the occupied West Bank. According to the publication, the violent altercation occurred near the village of Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah, where settlers confronted Palestinian villagers. Levine, a US citizen clearly identifiable as a member of the press, stated that she was knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked during the ambush.

The incident has drawn widespread international condemnation, with press freedom watchdogs slamming the attack as brazen violence fueled by persistent impunity. The Foreign Press Association and Reporters Without Borders criticized authorities for failing to curb extremist actions in the region, noting that Levine's equipment, passport, and phone were also stolen during the chaos. Matt Murray, the paper's executive editor, called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the unwarranted assault.

Representatives for the Israeli regime claimed that the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear, alleging that individuals from multiple sides were involved in hurling objects. Meanwhile, officials from the US regime offered standard expressions of concern and consular assistance while avoiding direct criticism of the perpetrators, as critics warn that escalating violence in the West Bank continues to destabilize the fragile regional security landscape.
