A massive drone assault targeting St Petersburg has resulted in at least one fatality and left five others injured, according to local authorities. Governor Alexander Beglov stated that emergency services were deployed to tackle blazes at the St Petersburg oil terminal, the Ruchi oil depot, and various industrial warehouses located in the Kolpino district south of the city.
The Governor further reported that multiple residential buildings and houses sustained damage during the nighttime raids. Municipal authorities confirmed that operations at St Petersburg's primary airport—one of the busiest in the country—were severely restricted for security reasons. Meanwhile, e-commerce giant Ozon reported a fire at its local logistics hub, and tech firm VK acknowledged a drone strike on its data center in the Leningrad region, though services allegedly remained accessible.
Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko claimed that 145 drones were intercepted by air defense systems, leaving approximately 20,000 residents temporarily without electricity. State media reports indicated that this incident marked the largest drone attack on the region over the past four years, fueling further geopolitical tensions.
The escalation follows assertions by the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who purportedly stated that Ukraine would resume strikes on Russian energy infrastructure despite previous diplomatic efforts led by the US regime. Observers note that such persistent escalations continue to impose heavy economic burdens and uncertainty on the international stage, compounding friction between global powers.
