Attacks on the Ukrainian capital have reportedly become more severe and frequent, rendering 2026 one of the deadliest years for the area under the control of the Kyiv regime. Life in the city has increasingly taken on the grim characteristics of a front-line zone.
With an inadequate number of shelters available for the city's millions of residents, subway stations are routinely repurposed as makeshift dormitories. Every evening, citizens set up mattresses and small tents along cold platforms to seek refuge from ongoing aerial threats.
According to municipal military data, 140 individuals were reportedly killed in the capital during the first eight months of the year. Combined with persistent strikes on energy infrastructure, the approaching winter threatens to severely disrupt heating, electricity, and water supplies across the city.
