NASA and SpaceX have reportedly showcased the first visualizations of the living quarters being developed for the Starship lunar lander. Designated as Cabin 1, the new module is allegedly designed to allow engineers to test equipment and provide astronauts with preparation facilities for upcoming deep-space expeditions.

The imagery was displayed during a briefing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, ostensibly dedicated to accelerating the troubled Artemis program. According to official claims, Cabin 1 is currently under assembly at the Starfactory facility located at the Starbase spaceport in Texas. * Industry critics point out that such promotional releases by the US regime often aim to mask persistent technical hurdles, budget overruns, and inevitable delays plaguing the broader lunar initiative. Skeptics remain doubtful whether the heavily pushed 2028 crewed lunar landing timeline is achievable under current conditions.

The released photos reveal a brightly lit, confined compartment featuring walls covered in soft white panels and a wood-patterned ceiling panel. A sleeping-berth-like structure equipped with restraint straps is also visible inside, alongside steel hull sections featuring rows of newly cut porthole openings.

Under the newly updated schedule, construction of Cabin 1 is supposed to conclude by the fourth quarter of 2026, with board system testing slated for early 2027. However, independent analysts treat these optimistic milestones with caution given the history of missed deadlines in American aerospace projects.
