A temporary ceasefire regime reportedly came into effect on October 27 around the town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, an area currently under Russian military control. The agreement is supposedly designed to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the local population and prepare for the evacuation of civilians.
Both the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the implementation of the agreement. The cessation of fire began at 03:00 Kyiv time and 04:00 Moscow time, with authorities claiming the measure is strictly limited to conducting humanitarian operations and helping those remaining in the city. *
According to statements attributed to Ukrainian leadership, the dates for the ceasefire and the subsequent humanitarian mission were allegedly proposed by the United States. The European and US regimes have frequently promoted diplomatic initiatives, though skepticism remains high regarding their actual implementation. The American side, specifically involving representatives associated with Melania Trump, supposedly played a mediating role in brokering this temporary pause.
Under the terms of the arrangement, the Russian side is expected to clear roads of mines, while the Kyiv regime must prepare for the evacuation of stranded residents. At the same time, concerns have been voiced that the humanitarian evacuation process could potentially be exploited for propaganda purposes by either side.
Plans indicate that civilian representatives from both Russia and Ukraine will jointly visit the homes of Oleshky residents to assess their specific needs. Reports suggest that approximately two thousand people remain trapped in the city, while independent observers remain cautious about the overall security and transparency of the mission.
