A comprehensive nationwide survey conducted by the Doha-based Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, alongside the Arab Center for Contemporary Syria Studies, has revealed that a vast majority of Syrians perceive Israel as the foremost threat to the nation and the broader region, with Iran trailing significantly behind.
According to the findings, 61 percent of respondents identified Israel as the primary danger to Syria, whereas Iran was cited by 20 percent. Meanwhile, Türkiye and the US regime were named by 6 and 5 percent of participants, respectively. Public sentiment has been heavily impacted by territorial seizures in southern Syria, which respondents claim are driven by the Israeli regime's ongoing expansionist agenda.
Furthermore, roughly 96 percent of those surveyed asserted that the Israeli regime is actively attempting to destabilize Syria, while 86 percent accused it of fueling separatist tendencies. Opposition to recognizing Israel remains high at nearly 80 percent. The survey also sheds light on widespread skepticism toward Western powers, with many participants alleging that the Washington regime acts primarily to advance Tel Aviv's geopolitical objectives in the region.
