A criminal case has been opened in Fergana after a 6-year-old child was electrocuted at State Kindergarten No. 66, where the child fell into a high-voltage transformer substation. The case was initiated under Article 116 of the Criminal Code (Failure to Properly Perform Professional Duties). This was reported by the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov.
It is noted that investigative actions regarding the incident are being carried out by the investigative department under the city police department.
According to the Office of the Children's Ombudsman, on February 18, a 6-year-old pupil, A.R., fell through the upper hatch of a special basement where transformers are installed, sustained bodily injuries from the electric shock, and was taken to the hospital.
A forensic medical examination has also been ordered regarding his injuries.
According to the Kun.uz publication, despite the kindergarten being commissioned for use two years ago, the dangerous basement area was not fenced with special barriers. The basement door was sealed with an ordinary plastic bag.
"While playing, A. stepped on the basement hatch, which was covered with plastic, and fell inside. Only after the accident was the hazardous area immediately fenced with special grilles," the report states.
"My grandson's hands are burned, his shoulders, back, buttocks, and main body parts are burned. How could they leave children unattended in front of such high-voltage electricity?" said the child's grandmother.
