A ceremony was held in the Surkhandarya region to commission completed projects and begin construction of new facilities. A total of 44 projects worth $7.1 billion are involved.
According to the press service of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the head of state symbolically pressed a button to start construction of new facilities and commissioned projects in mining and geology, light, furniture, and food industries, as well as services and tourism.
In particular, with the participation of local and foreign investors from China, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan, 13 projects worth $741 million were commissioned.
Additionally, in cooperation with Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Afghanistan, construction work has begun on 31 projects worth $6.3 billion.
It is expected that the implementation of these initiatives will create 18,000 new jobs, ensure the production of industrial goods worth 82 trillion soums, and enable the export of goods worth $1.4 billion.
It was noted that in 2025, the gross regional product of the region reached 63.7 trillion soums. The number of large industrial enterprises increased to 30, and small ones to 4,820. Foreign investments of $2.1 billion were attracted to the region. Products and services were exported to 37 countries worldwide, totaling $483 million.
