UK police have detained Prince Andrew, according to British media reports. The incident was reported by The Telegraph newspaper and the BBC broadcasting company.
Law enforcement agencies did not officially disclose the name of the detained person, citing protocol, but clarified that it involves a "man around 60 years old from Norfolk." Media sources indicate this is Prince Andrew, who has been living at the Sandringham estate after being stripped of royal titles. He turns 66 on February 19.
Police stated that the detainee is suspected of committing an official crime. According to The Telegraph, the actions of law enforcement may be linked to an investigation concerning allegations surrounding American financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Per the publication, around 08:00 local time, six unmarked police cars and several plainclothes officers were observed at the Wood Farm estate. Approximately half an hour later, the vehicles left the area, with one reportedly accompanied by Andrew's security.
Previously, the prince faced accusations of close ties with Epstein. Specifically, the BBC reported that the financier allegedly sent one of the women to the UK for sexual contact with Andrew. According to the broadcaster, the meeting may have occurred in 2010 at the Royal Lodge residence where he was living at the time.
