President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Russian delegation led by First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia, Sergey Kiriyenko, in Tashkent on April 15. The meeting focused on the implementation of key joint projects and the steady growth of strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.

The high-ranking guest conveyed greetings from Vladimir Putin to the head of state, after which the parties moved to a practical discussion of implementing high-level agreements. It was noted that trade turnover is actively increasing, new industrial capacities are being launched, and cultural exchange is expanding.

A key part of the negotiations was cooperation in the peaceful nuclear sector. The sides thoroughly reviewed the current status and next steps for the project to build the first integrated nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, which is intended to be a crucial element of the republic's energy independence.

Beyond energy, agreements were reached to intensify cooperation in high-tech and social sectors. Specifically, this includes joint initiatives in digital technologies, youth and information policy, as well as the development of mass media and support for civil initiatives.
