Kazakhstan and Turkey have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for the production and maintenance of ANKA unmanned aerial vehicles.
The document was signed on May 14 in Astana during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's state visit to Kazakhstan, following talks with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The ANKA agreement was part of a package of 13 documents signed in the presence of the two leaders. Details of the project, including investment volume, location of the enterprise, launch timeline, and planned production numbers, have not been disclosed.
Earlier reports indicated that Kazakhstan is set to become the first foreign production base for these drones. The cooperation includes joint manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and technology transfer.
The ANKA is a reconnaissance-strike drone. Its maximum takeoff weight is 1,700 kg, payload up to 350 kg, flight duration up to 30 hours, and operational altitude up to 9,000 meters.
