Uzbekistan has become a key driver of foreign business growth in Kazakhstan, according to data from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As of May 1, 2026, 8,275 companies with Uzbek founders were operating in the neighboring country.

In comparison, in November 2022, this figure stood at only 2,072 enterprises. Thus, over the past 3.5 years, the number of Uzbek companies operating in Kazakhstan has nearly quadrupled, demonstrating a net growth of 300 percent.

In 2026, the pace of Uzbek business expansion accelerated markedly. In the last two months alone, the number of such enterprises increased by 1,376 units. Specifically, 866 new legal entities were registered in March–April, and another 510 companies were added in April–May.

Currently, Uzbek capital in Kazakhstan is concentrated in several key niches. The majority of companies with Uzbek residents operate in the services sector, accounting for 42 percent of all enterprises. The second most popular area is trade with a 25 percent share, followed by the construction sector, which employs 21 percent of companies.
