The III Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus was held in Minsk, where participants discussed new industrial cooperation projects, expansion of interregional collaboration, and growth in mutual trade.
The forum took place on July 8. The plenary session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Shuleiko, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov, as well as representatives of ministries, regional administrations, and business circles of both countries.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the development of trade and economic cooperation. According to Yuri Shuleiko, mutual trade turnover has increased more than 13 times over the past ten years. In the first five months of this year, trade volume grew by almost 40%, and by the end of the year it is expected to exceed $1 billion.
Special attention was paid to expanding industrial cooperation and implementing new joint projects. In particular, cooperation in agriculture, transport and logistics, food industry, construction materials production, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors was discussed.
The practical part of the program consisted of B2B and G2B meetings, where business and government representatives discussed prospects for creating new production facilities, implementing investment projects, and signing agreements between regions of the two countries.
The agreements reached are expected to strengthen interregional partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus, expand industrial cooperation, and ensure further growth in mutual trade.
It is worth recalling that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, will pay an official visit to this country on July 8-9.
