Ilnaz Galyaviev, serving a life sentence for the 2021 attack on Gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan, has officially registered his marriage in the 'Black Dolphin' maximum-security prison. The news has sparked widespread public debate in Russia.

According to Russian media, Galyaviev's bride is Diana, an 18-year-old resident of Tatarstan. She claims she began corresponding with him in 2021 when she was 14. They later met during the trial and continued communication. The marriage was registered in late June at the prison.

Following reports of the wedding, it emerged that the bride's family does not accept her choice. Relatives described the decision as youthful maximalism, cut off contact until the marriage is annulled, and are reportedly considering seeking psychiatric help for her. No official confirmation is available.

On May 11, 2021, 19-year-old Galyaviev, a former student, entered the school with a Hatsan Escort shotgun and opened fire on students and staff. Nine people were killed — seven children and two teachers — and over 20 were injured. A total of 667 people were recognized as victims.

The investigation revealed the attack was premeditated. After being expelled from college, Galyaviev legally purchased the weapon and created a Telegram channel called 'God', where he expressed hatred toward people and intent to commit a mass murder. The attack was initially planned for May 6 but postponed to May 11.

After his arrest, Galyaviev claimed to be 'God' and expressed hatred for everyone. A fan community formed around him, reportedly raising about 500,000 rubles for his legal defense.

In April 2023, the Supreme Court of Tatarstan sentenced Galyaviev to life imprisonment. He is serving his sentence in the 'Black Dolphin' prison. The marriage has reignited discussions about hybristophilia — romantic attraction to individuals who have committed heinous crimes.
